Mr. Smith is the managing partner of the Sarasota Office of Christopher, Smith, Leonard, Bristow & Stanell, P.A. and is the Partner-in-Charge of the Tax Department. He is involved in tax and estate planning, tax compliance and benefit consulting.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of the University of South Florida (USF) and joined the firm in 1972. The University of South Florida named him a Distinguished Alumni. He is a past Chairman for the Brunch on the Bay Committee for USF and has served on the USF Community Leadership Council for fifteen years and a past chair of it’s Program Committee. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Argus Foundation. He serves on the State Program Committee of the Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranch and was President of the Bradenton Unit for many years. Mr. Smith served two years as Chairman of the Leadership Sarasota Program Committee for the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Executive Committee for Leadership Sarasota for twelve years. He was awarded the inaugural Outstanding Alumni Service Award by Leadership Sarasota. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Goodwill Industries Charter School.
Mr. Smith is a past president of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and served two years on the Board of Governors of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He currently serves as a Trustee of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants Education Foundation. Mr. Smith has received the Certificate of Educational Achievement from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Tax Planning for Closely Held Businesses.
He is member and a past President of the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council as well as a member of the Manatee County Estate Planning Council. Mr. Smith is a member of the YMCA Endowment Committee, the South West Florida Planned Giving Council, and Goodwill Industries Professional Partners.
Mr. Smith was awarded the Sam Crosthwait Memorial Award as Outdoorsman of the Year in Manatee County for his work with various outdoor and environmental organizations and children.
