CS&L Internship Experience
We offer a unique hands-on internship experience that better prepares candidates as they choose a path in either public accounting or private industry. At CS&L CPAs, our paid internship program provides multiple opportunities to apply the classroom lessons in a practical setting.
We help our interns to jump right in and tackle real world projects. We will treat you as a member of our team and give you worthwhile and significant tasks that will help develop the skills you will need as you advance your accounting career. These resume-building experiences will provide a level of ownership and experience that will transcend the internship period. At future job interviews, you will stand out from the competition having already been responsible for an assortment of meaningful projects during your internship with CS&L CPAs. Our interns work on rewarding assignments in diverse industries at various levels of complexity utilizing the latest software technology.

We encourage students to apply three months prior to internship start date to ensure adequate time for interviewing.
Flexible schedules are offered around student classes, or you may elect to take a semester off from class to work full time. CS&L is pleased to assist you with your housing needs, and will cover your monthly rent payment for a furnished short-term apartment, when appropriate, to assist non-local candidates.
This internship may be put toward your CPA exam requirement of a one year CPA work experience.

As a senior accounting student at the University of South Florida, I knew that getting an Internship in the field was one of the most essential experiences before graduating. Many of my colleagues sought internships at large accounting firms, but I was seeking a firm that placed emphasis on their relationship with their employees, as well as a dedication to the profession.
CS&L CPAs offered an internship experience like no other. As an inexperienced intern just out of school, I had the opportunity to apply my knowledge of taxation to corporations, partnerships, trusts, and individual tax returns. The firm treated the interns similarly to that of full time staff, in that they expected us to work hard, ask questions and engage with all members of the firm. The Principals of the firm are familiar with the stress associated with busy season, so to create an effective work-life balance, we participated in events such as "Bod Squad" weekly work-outs, bingo, cookie decorating for charity, and a 5-K race for charity. One lasting impression CS&L bestowed upon me was that CS&L is very dedicated to producing high quality work in a non-competitive environment. Because of this, everybody is very willing to share with you the tools they use and the knowledge they have so that you, too, can contribute to the success of the firm.
My internship experience with CS&L gave me the knowledge and understanding of accounting and how it applies to real world situations. Coming into the internship, I wasn’t confident I had the knowledge I needed, but to my surprise the firm expected that. CS&L boosted my confidence by providing extensive training in the beginning and kept an open mind when I had a lot of questions to ask. Because of the support of the CS&L team, my tax preparing and problem identifying skills have drastically improved. I highly recommend CS&L CPAs to anyone looking for an internship in public accounting.
My experience working as an intern for CS&L was career changing. Before interning with CS&L, I was questioning my decision to work in public accounting. I had been interviewing with large and national firms for a while, but none of them felt like the right fit for me. After my interview with CS&L, I left thinking, “Wow, I really like them. Here’s a place where I could actually see myself making a difference,” and that wasn’t a feeling I had before.
The first thing that stood out to me during my internship was the training and technology. We underwent a series of hands-on trainings when we first started; we did CPE training and we held meetings for training feedback. The hands-on training was phenomenal. Having the opportunity to work through tax returns and the programs with the senior staff and partners was priceless. We were able to get to know the programs and the accounting steps behind what we were doing. It made it so much easier to understand the work we were doing after we understand the "why" behind it.
What really makes CS&L stand out is their firm culture. The firm culture is about fostering teamwork and growth for every staff member. That was more than evident during my internship. As an intern, almost every task I was given was a foreign concept to me. There were days where I would have pages of questions and I could go to ANYONE for help. If someone was available, they instantly tried to help. If they didn’t know the answer, they helped get me to the person who did. I never felt like I was all alone, trying to do all this work or figure out all these processes by myself. I felt supported and was never afraid to ask for help, or to try something and get it wrong. I felt extremely appreciated during my internship. The partners thanked us regularly for our hard-work. The firm provided outlets to help everyone get through busy season. We had lunches provided, fun socials, weekly workouts, and other events happening during our workday to help us break away from the daily grind. My experience interning for CS&L was better than anything I could have imagined. I went from wondering if I could get what I needed from public accounting to knowing I just needed the right firm.
I had an amazing experience working at CS&L. Though I was a little nervous at first being in a new town with people I barely knew, I felt the love from everybody in the office. People really looked after me while I was living there, and that’s one of the things I am most appreciative of. The countless dinners and other interactions I had with employees in, and outside of work, made me feel right at home and my mentor at CS&L was truly a blessing. She was like the older sister I never had.
From Day 1 the interns are considered qualified, smart individuals who are going to help the firm. I felt as though CS&L was truly invested in me. The perks of working at the firm are overwhelming. When I called my parents to tell them all the great things happening at CS&L, they were amazed. The most important thing I value in a company is the company culture – and I feel as though I fit right in at CS&L.
Not only are the people great, but I also value the work I did. Yes, there was a lot of work, but I enjoyed learning something new every day. The internship allowed me to gain a hands-on experience of what it’s like to have a full time accounting career. By understanding the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities of being an accountant, I have made a decision to stay in the accounting profession and start grad school next year.
